FICS is recruiting an Administrative Assistant
The Funders Initiative for Civil Society (FICS) is seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to provide additional support to the FICS Director as well as fulfil a number of important administrative functions as part of a wider reorganisation of the FICS team.
This is a new, UK-based role. We are a warm, friendly team, with a culture that values administrative skills and strives to ensure that everyone has opportunities to learn and grow. You can find out more about FICS’ mission on our website and in the job pack.
FICS equips funders with the tools they need to understand and anticipate trends in civic space, bringing them together to tackle the problem of shrinking civic space. We provide analysis on the drivers of closing civic space, test new ideas to pushback against civic space restrictions and seek to motivate the funding community to move more resources to rights-based movements and their allies on the frontline.
Our mission and new operating model are based on the analysis from FICS’ 2020 seminal research Rethinking Civic Space, which lays out how the abuse of counter-terrorism laws and policy, intertwined with increasingly concentrated economic power and threats to democracy and pluralism from regressive political forces has put the shrinking of civic space on a full force trajectory. These complex drivers cannot be tackled in silos and FICS’ aim is to be a locus of collaboration.
This role is a UK-based, full-time hybrid position with the successful applicant expected to join other UK-based staff members in London two days per month. We would also consider offering the role as a job share or at 4 days/wk (0.8 FTE). Deadlines for applications is 9am UK time on 29 November 2023, shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview online on the 4 and 9 December.
